Well-known Zimbabwean all-rounder Sikandar Raza’s son, Eesa Butt, scored a magnificent 279 off just 146 balls during the U14 50-over League game on Saturday.
Representing and captaining Hellenic Academy U14 in the game held at CBC Field in Bulawayo, Eesa Butt showed no mercy to the opposition bowlers and belted the CBC U14 attack to all corners of the ground. His mammoth innings included 30 fours and 20 sixes, and he batted for 253 minutes after coming in at No. 3. Notably, 86 per cent of his runs came from boundaries.
Hellenic Academy U14 won the toss and elected to bat first but lost opener Jeremy Nkomo in the second over of the innings for 12. From there, it was all about skipper Eesa Butt, who dominated the CBC bowlers before being dismissed in the 48th over.

Following Eesa Butt’s destructive batting and wicketkeeper Tawananyasha Zvobgo’s blazing 92 off 66 balls, Hellenic Academy posted a huge total of 518 for 6 in the stipulated 50 overs.
Defending a mammoth total, the Hellenic Academy bowlers posed a huge threat to the CBC batters, bowling them out for a meagre 85 inside 18 overs. In the end, it was a comfortable win for Eesa Butt and his team, who recorded a huge 433-run victory.
