Controversial former IPL Chairman Lalit Modi’s biopic is set to be made in Bollywood and is currently in development. According to a report by Pinkvilla, the film will be produced by Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, owned by Sajid Nadiadwala.

As per reports, writer and producer Sneha Rajani is part of the scripting team.

Apart from the controversies surrounding Lalit Modi, the movie will also explore different chapters of his life. The behind-the-scenes activities of the IPL, how he shaped the league during its early stages, and why he left India in 2010 could be shown in detail.

Lalit Modi, who was instrumental in establishing the cash-rich Indian Premier League, has been away from India and living in London since 2010 after being surrounded by controversies.

Ranveer Singh To Play the Lead Role in Lalit Modi’s Biopic?

During an interview with ANI, Lalit Modi said that Ranveer Singh met him a few years ago in London and expressed interest in portraying his character, although nothing has been finalised yet.

Ranveer Singh

He said, “Ranveer Singh wants to play me. He came and saw me. I would like him to play. But if he has the time, now he’s become so big. I didn’t know Ranveer. I knew Deepika very well. I never met Ranveer. One day, I get a call saying Ranveer wants to see you. And he comes to London to see me a few years ago, two years ago.”

Following the back-to-back success of Dhurandhar 1 and Dhurandhar 2, Ranveer Singh may still be interested in playing Lalit Modi, although Modi is unsure whether the actor remains interested.

“Ranveer told me that in his life, there was one role he wanted to play, and it would be Lalit Modi as commissioner. It wasn’t me asking him. I think he’s great. Without doubt, he’s amazing. And what he has done with Dhurandhar is amazing. Whether he still wants to play me or not, but two years ago, we sat here, right in this house, right here, and we talked about him playing. But we are now scripting it. It’s a lot of work,” he concluded.

Apart from holding the position of IPL Chairman and Commissioner, Lalit Modi has held several administrative roles in cricket, including serving as the vice-president of the BCCI, president of the Rajasthan Cricket Association, and vice-president of the Punjab Cricket Association.
